Hello There! I am E.J. and thank you for joining me for another edition of Vegetarian Products in Review, where I am committed to providing you with unbiased & open reviews on vegetarian & vegan products. Every month there are new vegetarian or vegan products that are hitting the market. This is exciting, but it can also be very overwhelming as you don’t know which products deserve your hard earned money. That’s why I am here to help you discover new products while also helping you decide if you should “give it a try or pass it on by.”
Justin’s has been making natural food products for the past 10 years and makes a variety of nut butters and peanut butter cups. Currently J, Justin’s makes 8 different nut butter blends:
- Maple Almond
- Classic Almond Butter
- Honey Almond Butter
- Vanilla Almond Butter
- Chocolate Almond Butter
- Classic Peanut Butter
- Honey Peanut Butter
- Chocolate Hazelnut Butter
The newest addition to Justin’s spread of Nut Butters is the Chocolate Hazelnut Butter. Immediately what’s unique about this chocolate spread is that it is a blend of both almonds and hazelnuts and it is Vegan. On the Justin’s website the owner, Justin of course, warns you that this Chocolate Hazelnut Butter may not taste like some of the other chocolate spreads out there due to the lower amounts of sugar that Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter (which is a good thing).
If you have a sweet-tooth, don’t let this scare you off. I love sweets probably more than anyone in this galaxy and this Chocolate Hazelnut Butter is a perfect balance of sugar and nutty goodness. The Chocolate Hazelnut Butter is pretty thick and it is a little difficult to spread say on toast. So what I do is put a little bit in a container, pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds, and this makes spreading easier.
A serving size is 2 tbs and has 180 calories which is about 200 calories less than regular peanut butter! YEAH!! Each 16 oz jar of Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter has 14 servings and I paid $10.99 for a 16 ounce jar. This is a bit much for 16 ounce jar of nut butter, but if you still want to try this Chocolate Hazelnut Butter, you can choose between two smaller sizes, 80 Cal Squeeze Pack or the 1.15 oz Squeeze Pack which usually sells for about $1.00.
Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter is all natural and contains organic, premium ingredients. The selection of ingredients is just another reason why it is a “TRY” but I will say with caution. If you are looking for a super sweet hazelnut spread like Hershey’s or Nutella, the Justin’s brand is not that sweet. So monitor your “sweetness” expectations.
